A rathah odd day...

So ok, the icky hotel is growing on me. I'm not staying here, but it's growing on me. I get a free breakfast and even though I'm terrified of eating alone in public, I did it...rationalizing that breakfast in a hotel is an acceptable environment to eat alone. And so for the first time since I got here, I had breakfast...a big and slow one. And I felt much better.

So after breakfast, off I went on another morning of flat hunting. First stop was with a company who does all inclusive flats...the flats aren't horrible, but they're kind of bleh. So off I went to my noon appointment, where I got hopelessly lost.

But when I finally found it, the owner was perplexed to see me. The flat is not for rent! I have no idea what would prompt an estate agent to post a flat for let that isn't actually available, but anywho, that was odd.

So I came back to the hotel with grand plans to try to open a bank account. I had really yummy cookies instead. I decided I'd wait until I have a permanent address to open a bank account.

It seems that the gorgeous but tiny flat won't be mine...they want the entire 6 months' rent *now*. Geez, so probably no. The estate agent is trying to pull some strings, but I'm not hopeful....moving right along, I have more appointments tomorrow.

I came across a group of horribly stereotypical Americans tonight while strolling around and one of the ladies says (in reference to their transport plans) "well, I'm not going underground!"

Mmmkay....
